Whether or not Rare still has ‘it’ will be determined one way or the other later this year, when their mysterious upcoming game Sea of Thieves is launched. We don’t know much about it- we know it seems to be a charming, multiplayer oriented game based on pirates and loot, but that’s the extent of it really.

Still, you could end up being one of three lucky people who get flown down to Rare’s studio in England, and who get to play the game ahead of time. Rare have announced a new contest, where they are asking fans to create something that expresses their excitement for the upcoming Sea of Thieves. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • 33.00% – Creativity
  • 33.00% – Entertainment value
  • 33.00% – Level of excitement for Sea of Thieves

Rare will pick out the winners who get to fly to their studio, and play the game early.

“Fans, their feedback, and our relationship with them are going to be critically important for us with Sea of Thieves,” Rare said. “Even at this stage of development, we think of our players and our fans as being the centre of everything we do. That will only become truer as time goes on.”

So,Rare fans- get on it, and you could end up getting early access to what Microsoft has described as ‘the greatest game Rare has ever made.’

Sea of Thieves is due out later this year for PC and Xbox One.
