Even with the challenges brought on by COVID-19 and BlizzCon 2020 being canceled, Blizzard Entertainment is still on track to release World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands expansion this year. A recent age rating in Brazil seemed to indicate that Shadowlands would mark the series’ debut on consoles with an Xbox Series X version. However, that’s not the case.

A company spokesperson told Polygon that, “We currently have no plans to bring World of Warcraft or Shadowlands to Xbox Series X. The platform was listed on the Brazil Ministry of Justice rating website in error, and the entry has since been updated to reflect that the game is coming only to PC.” While controller support is being added with the expansion, it’s simply meant to aid those with mobility issues. Regardless, the MMO is remaining on PC for the foreseeable future.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands sees players venturing to the realm of the dead, the titular Shadowlands, with Covenants ruling each zone. Each Covenant will have a separate campaign for players though one needs to be level 60 to pledge their support. There will also be a level squish, new leveling system and the return of the Death Knight class. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
