V Rising

V Rising, a new survival action RPG, launched on May 17th for PC via Steam Early Access and has already been a big success for Stunlock Studios. In a recent tweet, the developer revealed that it had 500,000 players in just three days. The store page reveals 10,336 user reviews with 87 percent being positive.

As a vampire that’s awoken after centuries, V Rising sees you venturing through the world, scavenging blood and other materials in order to build your castle. In the meantime, you can gather humans and turn them into your servants or battle with other players. Exploring the world nets better gear and allows for upgrading your abilities.

Despite similarities to Valheim, V Rising has been praised for its snappier combat and unique gameplay hooks like feeding on weakened enemies to replenish blood. You also need to either venture out at night or stick to the shadows, lest the sun burn you to a crisp. Currently, the plan is to leave early access in 12 months though it could take longer. “Our focus is to ensure the best experience possible. It is difficult to say precisely how long it will take to process player feedback and further develop the game accordingly.”

More biomes, dungeons, weapons, enemies, crafting recipes and so on are planned for the coming months so stay tuned.
