V Rising - Secrets of Gloomrot

Stunlock Studios’ V Rising is getting its first major content update in May with Secrets of Gloomrot. It adds a new biome, Gloomrot, about the size of Dunley Farmlands. There are North and South sections, each with new enemies and technologies, and the option to build castles with multiple floors.

Secrets of Gloomrot is touted as an “expansion-level event” and “a wide-scale update of the complete current state of the game.” Some new features that players can expect include new weapons (like the Greatsword) and skills, new areas, progression changes, new factions and V Bloods and Trading Posts. Dunley Farmlands, Quartz Mine and Glass Factory are also expanding.

The spell system is also being overhauled with Jewels used to customize them, while Legendary weapons and Territories, which revamp the current land-claiming system, are also coming. Secrets of Gloomrot is the first of three content updates, with Update 2 most likely being the full release. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

V Rising is available for PC via Steam Early Access. It’s sold over 2.5 million copies as of August 2022.
