Microsoft Wants To Eventually See Game Pass On All Platforms

Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft has become far more open in their approach to gaming over the last few years, though they have pulled back a bit on that in the most recent past, and one such way is Game Pass. The service is one of their key components going forward, and it’s on PC now. But, apparently, in the long run, there’s even bigger ambitions for the service at large.

In talking with Gamereactor, Microsoft’s Ben Decker and Matt Percy talked about the future envisioned for Game Pass. At some point they apparently see it as expanding to everything under the sun, and that is a natural endgame for the current strategy.

“You know, we would like to see Game Pass on all platforms ultimately and I think that is a long term goal. We don’t have any specific plans today, but we would love to see Game Pass really go everywhere.”

Obviously, this isn’t something that will happen for a good while, since Microsoft still has a major stake in the dedicated hardware business, but it does seem like a natural evolution at the end of it all. It’ll be interesting to see if it’ll ever happen, and to see what the industry will look like when we get to that point.
