Helldivers 2 Guide – How to Earn Medals Quickly

Completing Operations and Personal Orders is one method, but you can also gain some from exploring the surrounding area during a mission.

Whether you’re focusing on weapons, armor, emotes, helmets and banners from the free War Bond or the Premium in Helldivers 2, War Medals are required. Without spending the requisite number of Medals, it’s impossible to progress to the latter pages in the War Bonds and unlock the items. So how do you get them? There are three main avenues, and fortunately, they’re reasonably quick.

How to Farm Medals

Complete Operations on Higher Difficulties

Playing Operations on Medium difficulty and above is recommended since they offer multiple missions per Operation. Completing each mission nets War Medals. You get progressively more for each completed, so multi-mission Operations are the best. If possible, try to clear the main objectives and then extract quickly – doing this back to back is a great way to farm Medals. This strategy is ideal for Challenging and above with a team focused on speed farming and ignoring the side objectives.

Personal Orders

Personal Orders often range from extracting a specific number of times to killing select numbers of Terminids and Automatons. They’re separate from Major Orders and can be done at your own pace for War Medals. To finish the extractions-related Personal Order, select some missions on Trivial difficulty and clear the objectives as quickly as possible. For slaying Automatons and Terminids, load up a Horde mode-style mission on Trivial or Easy, bring some turrets and go to town.

Sealed Doors and Crates

When exploring planets, you’ll come across two kinds of sealed doors – a blue one that must be exploded with a grenade and one that requires pressing two buttons at once (only possible with another player). Both have a chance of providing War Medals, but that’s not all. You can also blow up blue crates to net the same. If you notice any intermittent glowing pillars of light, run towards them – they’re often caches that your character will salute at before opening and can also provide War Medals. This method is best when playing with randoms, interspersed with side objectives and collecting other materials.

Helldivers 2 is available for PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details and other tips and tricks for success.
