Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga

The first Hellblade was a small game that focused a lot on a personal story about mental health, something you don’t see in video games a whole lot. It seems to be something that developer Ninja Theory wants to continue exploring in the future. Microsoft recently unveiled Hellblade‘s sequel at the same time as their next generation console, giving us quite the striking first look at the game. It seems as if the sequel will continue down a similar path, but will broaden in scope.

In the first video of a series called The Dreadnought Diaries, Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades revealed that the game has roughly twice as many people on the development team as the original. Not only is that already bigger in scope, its themes seem much lofty as well. Antoniades also says that the story will explore how madness and mental illness shape perception of myths, religion and gods. You can check out the full dev diary below.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is slated to release on the Xbox Series X and PC. You can also take a look at our graphical breakdown of the impressive reveal trailer through here.
