Car parts in the new Forza depend on your Car Level. How do you increase it, and what are the best methods? Find out here.

Forza Motorsport (4)

Forza Motorsport has changed its progression over previous games, with upgrades for each car locked behind Car Level. The max level is 50, and while the first 20 levels or so will avail enough parts for some healthy customization, some of the most significant upgrades like Engine Swap, Body Kit and Drivetrain Swap are only available after level 40.

With over 500 vehicles in the game, the grind is fairly significant. So, how do you earn the XP necessary to increase your Car Level? Let’s look at some of the best methods.

How to Increase Car Level

Practice and Events

Performing different actions, like overtaking other vehicles, nets XP in the new Builders Cup mode. The new Key Racing Segments also help provide Car XP – after setting a Personal Best in Practice, you get 20 Car XP. Each time you beat it, you get more Car XP. However, if you get Good or Great Segments during Practice and Events, they’ll need 25 and 50 Car XP, respectively.

It may not seem like much, but given how frequently you’ll perform these actions (along with overtaking), you should have several levels within the first few Practice sessions and Events in a Series. Completing Series in Builders Cup also goes a way towards increasing your Driver Level and earning Credits.

Free Play and Rivals

If you’re serious about the grind or don’t want to repeat any Series or Featured Tours or venture into Featured Multiplayer, you could always race in Free and Rivals. Choose a track with several Segments, like Suzuka Circuit or Nürburgring, and complete as many laps as you like. Since Practice sessions have a time limit in Builders Cup after completing the initial three laps, this is a stress-free way to earn levels while getting familiar with the vehicle.

Enable Assists in Free Play

Go to Free Play and select Advanced Event Setup. Choose a Circuit Race and set the lap count to 20, Drivatars to zero and enable Club Rules. Next, go into Settings and enable Automatic Shifting, Fully Assisted Steering, Assisted Throttling and Fully Assisted Braking. It will cause your car to race around the track by itself, garnering XP with each lap while you do something else.

As for the track, you could choose Le Mans – Circuit International de la Sarthe and go with the Old Mulsanne Circuit layout. There’s also Oval Track on Eaglerock Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It takes about three minutes on average per level (depending on the track), so you can quickly hit the max level in about 2.5 hours.

Of course, you don’t have to go completely AFK. You can turn on some assists while you handle the steering. The choice is up to you.

Forza Motorsport is available for Xbox Series X/S and PC on October 10th, though Premium Edition owners can start playing now. Check out our official review, tips and tricks and technical analysis of the title. You can also read our guide for quickly farming Credits.
