EA Sports FC 24 is promising plenty of improvements to the on-pitch gameplay with HyperMotion V, PlayStyles, and more, but what can we expect from Career mode? The mode has long been the place where a vast portion of the series’ playerbase spends most of its time in each year’s game, but EA has, sadly, let it stagnate, barring a few improvements here and there. To highlight some of the biggest changes and improvements being made in this year’s Manager and Player Career modes, EA has, as promised, released a career deep dive trailer.

One of the bigger additions in Manager Career this year is having to manage an entire coaching staff that will function under you. You’ll be able to recruit different coaches of varying qualities and varying specializations, and the larger and better your coaching staff is, the more your players’ attributes will improve- and of course, what attributes are improving will depend on the makeup of your coaching team.

Meanwhile, additional emphasis is now also being placed on preparing for matches, which you’ll be doing in several different ways. For starters, the team training system is being revamped, and will now let you choose between five different Training Plans, each of which will have a different focus, like Performance and Energy.

You can set a separate Training Plan for each player, and the requirements for each player will shift as the season progresses based on a number of factors, including the player’s natural fitness, how many minutes they’ve played, how packed your fixture schedule is, and more. With Training Plans, your key challenge will be finding the right balance between building a player’s performance levels and ensuring they can maintain their fitness and energy levels throughout the course of the season.

Meanwhile, you’ll also now get pre-match reports before each game that will give you a tactical analysis of your next opponent, covering their probably lineup and formation, their form over the last five games, their key players, and their biggest attacking and defensive strengths. Finally, there’s the addition of Match Ready Training, which will be one-off training sections before a game that, upon successful completion, will reward the participating players with temporary PlayStyle unlocks that they’ll then be able to make use of in the next game.

On the Player Career side of things, the biggest new addition is going to be player agents. You’ll be able to work towards specific goals – like joining a particular big club in a particular league – following which your agent will set you both short- and long-term targets to hit to make that goal a reality, allowing for greater control over your career path.

Other additions include new cutscenes and events, like open-top bus parades at the end of a trophy-winning season, or even a Ballon D’or ceremony at the end of each year, which is a new addition for the series. In Manager Career, you can now also spectate matches and will still be able to set tactics in real-time while doing so, while in Player Career, EA Sports FC 24 is introducing a new, more immersive camera that will put your player at the center of the action. Check out the deep dive below for more details.

EA Sports FC 24 will launch on September 29 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
