Dragon’s Dogma 2 has attracted widespread acclaim from critics, and on Steam, it’s pulling in players in large numbers, though its launch has still hit a few stumbling blocks along the way. In addition to controversy kicked up by the game’s inclusion of microtransactions, it has also received criticism for some of its technical deficiencies. Capcom has previously said that it’s working on fixes for a number of them, and the company has now provided further details on what some of those fixes will bring.

Taking to Twitter, Capcom has said that it will be releasing patches “in the near future” that will make several updates to the game across all platforms. Most notable of these is the inclusion of an option to set a frame rate cap of 30 FPS on consoles. Currently, on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game only features an uncapped 30 FPS graphics mode, which has prompted complaints of inconsistent performance from a number of players.

Other graphical options are also going to be added on consoles. Specifically, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will soon allow players to toggle ray tracing and motion blue on or off. Do keep in mind, however, that turning these options off won’t have any significant impact on the performance, though Capcom says dedicated frame rate improvements will be coming at a later time.

Meanwhile, on PC, upcoming updates will improve the game’s visual quality when DLSS is enabled, and address an issue that was causing models to appear “low-quality under some specific settings”.

Other updates that will be applied across all platforms include the ability to start a new save within the game itself, instead of having to manually delete your save file to do so, as well as making the quest that allows you to purchase your first house available a little earlier in the game. Additionally, the quantity of Art of Metamorphosis – an item required to change your appearance – available at Pawn Guilds will be increased to 99.

Check out Capcom’s tweet below for more details on what Dragon’s Dogma 2’s upcoming patches will bring.

In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a landmark release for open world action RPGs. From its thoroughly immersive world and its stellar combat to the incredible emergent gameplay its bevy of systems enable, Capcom’s long-anticipated sequel delivers spectacularly in more ways than one. By definition, it’s going to turn some people off with its many eccentricities, but it’s those eccentricities exactly that make it such an utterly unique and unforgettable experience.” Read the full review through here.
