Hollow Knight: Silksong Delayed Past First Half of 2023

Team Cherry's Matthew Griffin says the game has "gotten quite big," and it wants to take time to make it "as good as we can."

Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong is no longer releasing in the first half of 2023. Matthew Griffin, in charge of marketing and publishing for the title, revealed plans to release in this period, but “development is still continuing.”

“We’re excited by how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.”

Intended as DLC for the first game, Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced in February 2019 as new game starring Hornet. It takes place in a new kingdom with several new enemies and environments. Though noted as being in the “final testing” stage in 2021, Silksong has been a long time coming.

Following its Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase last year, Microsoft claimed the game would launch by June 2023. Plans change of course but lead playtester claims it’s a “glorious game worth the wait.” Stay tuned for further updates, and in the meantime, check out its most recent gameplay trailer. Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. It’s also launching on day one for Game Pass.
