Ace Combat 7’s Trailer Was Real Time

If that's how it will look in VR...

One of the few surprise reveals at Sony’s PlayStation Experience keynote was Ace Combat 7, the newest entry in Bandai Namco’s long running aerial combat saga. There was, however, not a whole lot of excitement at the announcement, which had in part to do with the fact that the game had been leaked beforehand, and in part to do with the fact that the trailer looked obviously prerendered. So, I mean, it’s cool to see and all, but we still haven’t seen the game itself, right?

As it turns out, we were wrong– the trailer that we saw at the PlayStation Experience was apparently real time footage, according to producer Kazutoki Kono. This includes everything we saw- from the clouds to the planes to the pilot models.

Given that Ace Combat 7 will have some form of VR support as well, thanks to Sony’s PlayStation VR headset, it’s going to be an impressive feat if the final game looks like that in VR too.
