One of the biggest trends in this industry over the course of this generation has been live service games, with developers and publishers realizing that with constant updates and new content, they can get a lot more out of a single product than one that launches and then just… stops. That said, it’s no secret that most developers haven’t really done live services the way they should ideally have been done, and the whole “launch is just the first step in a long journey” concept has often been used as an excuse for releasing unfinished games that clearly needed more time in development.
